Here’s the link to my original Christmas Card Challenge
Let me say, its been a great success so far. I’ve written out over 30 cards! They’re going to such countries as the United States, Canada, England and South Africa – not to mention many to our own fair isle.
But a week or so ago, I had a bit of an idea. How could I both send greetings and well-wishes at this time of year – which I love doing – as well as doing something for the ‘Greater Good’ – which I also love doing?
The answer: you do both.
So this is what I’m going to do now:
Please, still keep sending me your address if you want to get a Christmas Card from me. But it will only be an e-card.
Instead of sending a card (and saving a few trees – yes, I suppose) I will then donate the postage (0.45c in Australia/ $1.10 International) plus an additional $0.90 (the cost of about an average card) to the Wesley Mission Melbourne to go towards their Christmas Appeals.
So, what do you think? I expect my contact page to be flooded now! No excuses!
To those of you who’ve already put your hands up, your cards have been written, and lovingly licked and stamped by my daughter, all ready to post (I just have put off sending them until late next week. Not even am I that zealous to get them out!). Thanks again to you all. I’ve had a lot of fun putting them together (as has Keira).
Also – that lime-green Oxfam Australia button in the right column? ‘That’s new’, you might say. Indeed it is.
During the week, I quietly added this page to briefly explain my position on blogs and the money-making side of matters. Some people are fundamentally against blogs being profitable. Don’t ask me why. I am of the opinion if you’re good enough at what you do, and you can make money off of it (so long as it’s not immoral!), then why not? Still, that’s not enough for me. I wanted to see what can be done with just a little collective effort.
This Oxfam fundraiser is my first ‘project’. I’ll look forward to seeing how well it goes.
I hope you will too.

Oh CONGRATULATIONS. Simply fantastic and I just love you.
I think donating the cost of card and postage is a divine idea.
I’ll go shop Oxfam now too.
Hope you don’t mind, but…I’ve linked to your fund raiser in our Safety Talk forum (see Water Safety).
I don’t like to reinvent the wheel and split the hard found funding dollar. If the Imaginif visitors can help to fill your well to overflowing, then and only then, might we include an Oxfam Unwrapped over at Imaginif.
Oh – I love you, you sweet lady. You know why;)
Congratulations – and goodluck we gave to Ozfam unwrapped this year and a few other organisations – Tear, Blind Christian Mission, World Vision too – I think it is so important we consider those less fortunate – great idea to send ecards and donate.
