A second week of school holidays and the unparalleled joys of time and freedom.

Yeah. I wish.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying not having to rush around to get the kids off to preschool every other day and then getting back down there for pickups. And, actually, I like how mysteriously – and someone might have to explain to me why – there is next to no traffic on the roads during school holidays. That part is fine.

But guess what – it’s Spring, right? So that means lots of outdoors time and fresh air etc? Wrong. Those of you who watched the AFL Grand Final on Saturday will already be aware that we’re having some (and excuse the language) pretty shitty weather at the moment. No dust storms (thank goodness) but practically everything else: rain, wind, cold.

Everything else except sunshine.

So we’re stuck indoors. In our little house. With each other. The kids and I.

Throw in some snow it would almost be The Shining.

******

Not to be a great tease or anything (oh heck, yes I am) I’ll leave you with these parting words: on Wednesday I’ll be announcing a new book project. Very exciting!

I hear you on the being stuck inside.

Last week we had someone coming to visit every day which eased the girls boredom. This week I had trips to the park and outdoor entertainments planned. Not so much of that is going to happen it seems.

Sounds like fun. Heh.

We’re off to playgroup today because another day stuck inside might just send me around the bend. It’s not holidays here anymore.

I hear you loud and clear. Has a chuckle at ‘The Shining’. Bring on the real spring. Oh – and maybe the museum again?
