Jasmin has this project running that began last week, and boy was I excited when I learned a bit more about it. She, along with Incentive House,  came up with an idea: that bloggers could earn up to $1000 for the  Opportunity International Microfinance Fundraiser. By writing a post on the subject we bloggers could earn a $100 for the project.

Many of you who’ve read for a while know of my interest in developing the skills to harness the potential – I feel – the Internet has to do real and important work for social causes. We saw that alone with the recent bushfire crisis. I’m interested in these ideas on a local, national and international level. This particular initiative is for the entrepreneurial poor in the Philippines. Jasmin describes their situation: “(They) are an incredible bunch of individuals who are rising up out of poverty and circumstances to develop their small businesses. The small banks and organisations like Opportunity International Australia who provide them with the loans, training and programs are equally doing a wonderful thing by creating opportunities to end the poverty cycle and impact whole communities.”

If you are reading this and want to help but the March deadline has passed to add to the Incentive House project, you can still donate funds before the end of June. Follow this link and find out more.

I am looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Thank you.
