Anthony Stewart Head as Frank-N-Furter

in There Be Delights in Miscellany

Whenever I mention the subject of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my sister becomes stubborn and frankly philistine about it because she point-blank refuses to watch.

Her excuses are varied, and even admitted to giving “That one with all the singing” a try, but she just doesn’t ‘get it’.

So I offer to show her single tastes, the creamy top of addictive crack-Whedonesquism.

The ‘Hush’ episode. ‘Graduation.’ Or, my favourite ever, ‘Fool for Love.’

Nup.

However, I know she’ll bite (ha ha. vampire, geddit?!) here. Because as much as she declares her hate for Buffy I am her secret keeper and I know she has a love of ole’ for Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I first Twittered about this YouTube clip ages ago and was amused with the few IM’s I got on it. Seems no-one knew ASH’s theatrical past (neither did I).

So for the lovers of pop culture pastiche (among other terms I could mention, I guess!) I give you:

I’ll leave critical assessment up to you guys…For me, look, not the best rendition ever.

BUT.

I’d still go see him in the real thing.

Is it bad if, say, a person was aware of ASH’s musical theater background, as well as that of his brother, Murray Head?

‘Cause if it’s bad, forget I said anything.

And “Hush” is fantastic…so atmospheric. But then, what’s not to love about the entire series?

By the way, Karen, have you ever tried “Firefly?” Top notch Joss work, that.

I’ve seen it on the stage. Great fun.

I, too, knew his background, but I missed this one. Rocky Horror is one of my favorites (you know, the only song in history with my name in it “Dammit, Janet . . .”)

Janet, you’re lucky. “Dammit, Janet” rocks.

Me, I get “Dominick the Donkey.”

Sigh.

And people ask me why I get depressed at Christmas.

I have his actual CD, and James Marsters one too (well one of his I think he may have more than one).

Ummm I’ll go back to my iPod now…

Nothing to see here.

ahem.

I look forward to being able to see it at some point- however my work blocks the images on your blog (hence I also can’t see the photo you put up yesterday for dad’s birthday)

Oh, DEAR………………….
Have now finally been able to watch it- albeit peeking through my fingers as ’twas a little scary…
haven’t been a big fan of RHPS since high school when my best friend and i thought it was cool, still it’s always entertaining to see someone you usually know as straight-laced (eg when Anthony Head is in Little Britain as PM) dressed up in the whole shebang…
