This is the second subject I’m currently writing about offline.
I recently went and saw TDK and it is seriously one of the most impressive movies, script-wise, I’ve seen in a long time. Then I twittered this little piece and ever since cannot get it out of my head.
I want to ask all of you who’ve seen the movie…
*
Don’t look those of you who haven’t seen it. Don’t say you haven’t been warned!
*
*
Okay?
*
Right.
If you were on one of those ferries at the climax, if you were a parent with a child (or even not, it doesn’t matter), would you have pushed the detonator and sacrificed the lives of others to ensure your own? Or would you have taken the Higher Path and trusted the others would do the same?

Ideally, I would like to think I’d take the higher path. I don’t like harming others, especially if they haven’t done anything to me. But who knows? Mob mentality is a pernicious, persuasive thing.
And are we all assuming that we’re on the non-incarcerated ferry?

There has been a lot said about what a light rating the film has had in Britain…children can go see it.

D - We are on the goodie boat. Unless in Batman world you’ve been a very naughty boy!
JLP - Yes, there were very small children in ours too

Well, all I can say is that I was named after my grandfather, who was named after St. Dominic Savio, patron saint of choir boys and juvenile delinquents. During my adolescent years, I was a bit of both.

I wouldn’t do it for a number of reasons, one being what if the joker did it as a double cross, and so if you pressed the button to blow up the other boat it really blew up your own and then the joker would have the last laugh?

Hmm…good point Shelly.
