During the week my mother was interviewed by her local paper regarding her involvement in the World Youth Day celebrations down in Sydney.
This is a rough transcript of the phone conversation which occurred between us after said interview:
Her: “I quoted your blog!”
Me: “You did? What bit?”
Her: “It was your ‘vibrant Catholic‘ line from last week. I liked it. It made it into the final edit as well.”
Me: “Wow. Okay. Unexpected, but, wow, okay, thanks. ”
Ah, dear mother. As I haven’t read the article as yet, I’m not sure if the quote was used in the playful, jibing way it was intended or in a more ’straight’ interpretation.
Either way, that’s cool.
But I somehow don’t think that this what happened when the Protestant walked into the Catholic church joke will get much of a look-in in future interviews where my mother is concerned.
Pity. I liked it.

That’s pretty cool. My mother doesn’t know I have a blog. Not that I have lines worth quoting to the media.
