Barricades and Brickwalls

[*no, I’m not talking about Kasey Chambers. Catchy title, though, so I’m going to borrow it.]

Yesterday:

The Good: An expression of interest was made in pre-ordering my book; this will end up being a number somewhere over 50 copies, which is wonderful.

The Bad: I received a letter in the mail from a book distributor who I approached in regards to potentially distributing Surprise! nationwide. It reads:

{Insert impersonal salutation}

Unfortunately, we do not feel we could generate a big enough volume of sales to justify the costs of representation and distribution of this title.

{Insert impersonal sign-off.}

So, basically, a big, fat, middle finger.

Dammit.

Never mind, I will persist!

Heya,
Keep your chin up and do persist. Although I am a first time reader (hence I am not overly sure about your book) I am sure if you persist you will manage to get it off the ground.

/scampers off to start reading about Surprise!

Meh, forget that {insert impersonal sign-off}. It’ll be sweet when Surprise! takes off and that publishing exec is left slapping his/her forehead in frustration after having passed over it…a la Jayne’s comments vis a vis Harry Potter.
