Awful, isn’t it? In fact, words can barely describe the hideousness. Look at the chewed off edge; except it wasn’t chewed, it came out of the packet like that (so Keira says). Then there’s the chocolate thats bleeding through the rice paper like the blackheads I used to sport when I was working at Macdonalds. Horrible, horrible.
Not that she cared in the slightest:

Oh no! I’m sorry that happened. I’m sure it still tasted good, though. happy Birthday! My photo this week is about motherhood.

It’s not how it looks that matters so much as how it tastes. Yum. Who doesn’t love cake? And you know what they say…it’s the thought that matters. So, you get full Mommy points for making sure Keira’s birthday didn’t pass cakeless.

It’s all about blowing out candles, then eating the cake (mainly the icing) anyway. I don’t know why we’ve set ourselves up to do all these fancy cakes… and heaven knows, I’ve been the biggest culprit over the years..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEIRA!!

She doesn’t mind because like the rest of us, it’s ALL about the chocolate. That’s what’s important.

Hey there fellow aussie!
Cool shot, but I can’t see anything wrong with it… Our dog ate some of a cake I made once whilst it was cooling, I could have killed him!!!
Ours is up as well at burntofferings and more at bernies fotoblog.
Have a great WW!!

Don’t sweat it chicky. Every year I spend days planning and hours decorating the ‘perfect’ cake. Ask my kids what sort of cake they had the year before last and they can’t remember. Ungrateful bastards…
If she loved it, it was the main thing. It was made with love.

I can sympathise - the icing on the cupcakes I sent to school didn’t set. I am so undomesticated. Kids don’t notice that stuff though, too caught up in the moment.

I have to admit I didn’t see the problem at first either. The main part looked fine, and as you say, she didn’t mind. (When she’s 14, something like that will be tantamount to a national emergency.)

Ah the joy of children young enough to not care if their cake does not look perfect.
Eating the icing is the best bit anyway
