We went to an OXFAM book sale on the weekend. Grabbing books indiscriminately off the tables, we came home with a glut of treasures.
This is the inside of Peyton Place. The first 12 pages are ripped out. When I first discovered this, I was a tad annoyed, until I read the message on the inside cover, as you can see here.
In case you cannot read it, it goes: “Someone has [ripped] out the 1st few pages but you will get it OK after a bit of catching up.”
Well you can’t say I wasn’t given fair warning!

Haha that is so nice of them. Is it true though? Did you catch up? When buying second-hand books I always flick through to make sure there are all the pages. I remember reading one book and one page had been ripped out and it was one of the most important pages in there! I had to search for another copy, just to read that bit!

I love fetes and garage sales too – they’re great spots to find treasures however I also find they’re really good on a practical level. I read a lot and if I had to buy every book I read brand new it would cost a fortune. Luckily I’m able to find plenty of sales and a few good websites such as Murder and Mayhem Books on ebay. They’re Australian and always seem to have really great books at bargain prices although I’m the first to admit that they can’t beat a good garage sale but they’re well worth it.
